Irish Stage Live Music Saturday, Sept. 20th

Tonight’s performers include:

Internationally Renowned Musicians Eaman Coyne and Mance Grady

Eamon Coyne is a dominant and important fiddle and mandolin player on the traditional Irish music scene as he continues the legacy of his father, Eamon Coyne, Sr., of the world famous Liverpool Ceili Band.    Eamon Sr. brought up his sons in this rich tradition: Eamon (fiddle & mandolin), along with his brothers Michael (pipes and vocals) and Terry (flute and vocals).

For many years, Eamon was the driving force in the music scene of Miltown Malbay in County Clare and instrumental in leading concerts and sessions in Ennis and Doolin.  He played regularly with other top musicians such as Tommy & Siobhan Peoples and Brendan McGlinchey, and many others.  Eamon is also a noted composer of melodies and tunes which are played by many of today’s traditional performers.  Eamon’s recent CD "Liverpool Connections" has received great reviews.  He has performed for the King and Queen of Spain, the President of Ireland and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice along with many other dignitaries.

Mance Grady has a long-established reputation as a "Celtic percussionist extraordinaire" as WGBH’s Celtic Sojourn hose Brian O’Donovan once noted.  He is the first American to be recognized as a Master Player by the National Endowment for the Arts for his excellence on the traditional frame drum of Ireland, the bodhran.

Known for his incredible finesse as an accompanianist to a variety of artists from a multitude of musical genres including the more traditional Irish (Seamus Connolly, Robbie O’Connell, Paddy Keenan, Johnny Cunningham just to name a few) to pop/rock (Freebo of Bonnie Raitt Band and Marty Walsh of Supertramp, etc.)

An early innovator in the Celtic  Fusion scene, Mance continues to bring a wide palette of world percussion instruments into Celtic music while also endeavoring to bring the bodhran onto other music genres.  his accompaniment is uplifting without overpowering and his bodhran solos are simply amazing.
