RI Rally for Recovery at
Roger Williams National Memorial
The Rally for Recovery is Rhode Island’s celebration of National Recovery Month.

It is a FREE family-friendly educational festival which seeks to raise awareness about drug alcohol addiction, as well as mental illnesses, development disabilities, and the journey of recovery.

Over sixty organizations from across RI set up information tables to help us share this message. Along with music, guest speakers, a reptile show, crafts, giveaways and food!

There will be a special procession from Roger Williams National Memorial to Memorial Park in celebration of Rhode Island Rally for Recovery! where over 300 luminaria candle lanterns will glow with the light of hope.

Featuring inventions, robotics, hands-on making, building & hacking, culinary crafting, garage technology, arts and creativity for sale, and robots, culminating with a WaterFire in the Creative Capital, Providence, RI.

In honor of those Rhode Islander’s that lost their lives ten years ago on 9/11 there will be a special ceremony starting in the Union Station Plaza. During lighting flowers will be placed into the braziers and lighting torhces on the Bridge of Stars.

8 - 9:30 WaterFire & Opera Providence present LIVE Opera by 16 sopranos & mezzo-sopranos along the riverwalk. The divas will be dressed to the nines modeling marvelous hats designed by StyleWeek Providence designer, Everett Hoag.

Spogga, the fire dancer, skillfully dances admist the sparks spinning fire along the river.

Catch Mime Artist Michael Grando protraying Pierrot (Pedrolino) from the Commedia del’arte, in his naive and everlasting quest to win the heart of a beautiful girl. He will be making his way up and down the river tossing visitors complimentary carnations which reflect the connection between life and art!

RiverWalk: Before the Fires are Lit

Tours last 60 min. and depart at 5:30 p.m. from the John Brown House Museum on 52 Power Street in Providence This walk shares the history of Rhode Island’s capital city and the history of WaterFire. $10 per person. Half of all ticket proceeds from the river walk benefit WaterFire Providence. The tour takes place on all full lightings, reservations requested: Dalila Goulart @ 401.331.8575 x45 or programs@rihs.org.

Providence Latin American Film Festival

September 15-18 PLAFF believes in teaching understanding and appreciation of the Latin American experience through film and culture. PLAFF has been recognized nationally and internationally for its rich history and the quality of its films and programs, and it is the first Latin American film festival to present juried awards.

Visitors will get a glimpse into the Narragansett culture through traditional and contemporary storytelling, music and dance.
